Salat is a movement. Not just of the body, but of the soul. Ruhla is the name of that space, that suspended moment where we step away from the world to draw closer to something greater. We wanted the rug to carry that name, too.
As I grew closer to Islam, I truly understood the significance of prayer. Its structure, its constant presence throughout the day, and its physicality. And then, I noticed the rug.
"The very thing you kneel on five times a day, where you place your forehead in the humblest position imaginable, was, almost always, an afterthought. Poor materials, repetitive designs unchanged for decades, and zero consideration for the worshipper’s body. After a few months, the wrist pain during prolonged sujud had become normal. As if it were meant to be that way.
It wasn't. And someone had to do something different.
